Álfheiður Erla Guðmundsdóttir soprano, was born in Reykjavík in 1993. She comes from a family of musicians and from an early age she realized that she wanted to become a singer.
In 2013 she finished her classical singing studies at the Sigurdur Demetz School of Vocal Arts in Reykjavík where she studied with Hallveig Rúnarsdóttir and Sigrún Hjálmtýsdóttir. Currently she is studying at the “Hanns Eisler” conservatory in Berlin with Prof. Anna Korondi.
Amongst other teachers are Hendrik Heilmann, Liana Vlad, Wolfram Rieger and Julia Varady.
From 2016, she has been a recipient of the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Foundation scholarship as well as the Deutschlandstipendium. Álfheiður has attended masterclasses with Emma Kirkby, Laura Sarti and Janet Williams.
Apart from singing, Álfheiður started taking interest in photography as a teenager. At first she mainly photographed her friends in Iceland, but over the years she has ended doing portraits for a number of musicians, especially singers.
